Want to know the worlds best secret to health?

In today’s blog, I want to keep things really simple. I want to educate you on 3 core principals on nutrition and being the healthiest and happiest version of you.

EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT – this is called ‘Bio-Individuality’ one persons food is another persons poison. We are all individual, we have differing cultures, metabolism, ancestory, blood types, genetic backgrounds and personal tastes and preferences all that influence what food will or won’t nourish us.

EAT REAL FOOD – This is simple really. We all know that we should be eating more of the real stuff & less of the processed, packaged and convenient stuff.  By simply transforming your attitude and being mindful of what you are actually eating, this can have significant affects to your health and wellbeing.

EXPLORE YOUR PRIMARY FOOD – This is more than what is on your plate. A balance including healthy relationships, your physical activity, how fulfilled you are in your career, and your spiritual practise all can fill your body and soul. When there is a balance to primary food, your life feeds you.

Combining these 3 core principals with a healthy diet abundant in real food, you will be right at the top of your game.

A food journal is an excellent way to track your eating patterns. It can help you identify foods that may be your poison, it can also help you see how much real food you are eating, and help identify areas where you may need help or improvement in.

With the change of season, and as we enter into the cooler months in Australia, now more than ever before, if is ever so important to be diligent about our food choices. As I mentioned at the beginning of this blog, given half the chance, your body has an ability to heal itself. Just like it has the ability to get sick.

If you or your family are experiencing the effects of the changes in the season and have been hit with bouts of runny noses, feeing unwell or exhausted, today my recipe is a must for you.

Bone broth is rich in minerals that support the immune system and contains healing compounds that can help repair the gut lining and reduce inflammation. Your gut is home to bacteria – both good and bad. A healthy gut is more balanced and able to absorb essential nutrients as they pass through the digestive tract. Good bacteria in your gut can support immune function for the winter season. By maintaining a healthy gut you have the power to keep yourself disease and illness free for a healthier, happier life.

When you are experiencing illness sometimes, something as simple as a bowl of home made chicken soup is all the medicine you will need.
Here is a simple recipe for chicken stock for you. The simplest way to prepare your stock is to cook it overnight in the slow cooker, and while you sleep, let the stock work its magic overnight. Once you have this basic chicken stock, you can use it in all your favourite soup recipes, and it is great for the kids - use a portion of it to cook their pasta or rice, packed full of goodness & perfect for their little tummies.
Hope you find some form of inspiration in this blog. Take a moment to reflection on the 3 core principals of nutrition and challenge yourself to improve on an area that you can recognise needs more attention in your life.

For me, when I started to focus on these 3 core principals, I noticed significant changes to my health and wellbeing. The greatest help for me, was adapting a simple daily meditation program. My favourite app is 1 Giant Mind it is a free app to download, and is a wonderful teaching tool.
Make self care a priority - especially when you are a mum. To be the best mum, you need to be the healthiest and happiest version of you!
Have a great day!
